grind
apparently, i am a grinder. been so since college, according to my college roommate. j also says that i grind my teeth and it sounds like i'm "chewing rocks." that is not a good description. so the last time i went to the dentist i asked her to have me fitted to get a mouthguard.
"how much is it?"
"hmmm usually about $400.00."
"what!"
and so, i kept on grinding. i've seen mouthguards and they look like glorified versions of those pucks that small children put in their mouths during contact sports. $400, whatever.
but then my jaw and teeth were hurting and i needed to do something. i figured that at the very least, i needed to get some drug store remedy before i could get myself over to the dentist. at wmart, i picked one out for $20.00 that one could supposedly mold to your teeth. it's a hunk of plastic and you throw it in boiling water to soften it and then you push it up against your teeth to make a mold. it felt nice and cushiony and actually suctioned up against my top teeth so as to make a pretty good cover.
this morning after wearing it last night, my jaw, gums, and teeth felt rested. i'm really pleased with my purchase and wish i had done it earlier! apparently it's kind of a short term fix as you're not supposed to wear it longer than 3 months without consulting a dentist about it, but OH WELLS.
