a celebrity sighting

i've never seen a celebrity in the flesh save the time my mom pointed out the news anchor from channel twenty six near the escalator at nordstromw; but that doesn't really count because i had no idea who he was. i was so jealous when lydia said she saw many celebrities in new york at some sort of gala while she was jogging in central park. i'm also jealous of the fact that she can jog in central park.

at any rate, i was on the bus yesterday morning, heading downtown, stuffed into the humid bus that was packed with wet people and their umbrellas, with the windows fogging up and the heater going full blast when i looked up and saw a familiar looking girl. i couldn't quite place where i knew her from and dismissed her as probably being a 1L at school. she caught me staring at her so i gave her a no teeth half smile, which she promptly returned and i turned away because it's embarassing when people catch you looking at them.

everyone on the bus shuffled around to accomodate all the people getting off and on the bus and i found myself next to the mystery girl. it suddenly clicked in my brain who she was!

one of my absolute favorite shows since high school has been america's next top model. i know it's kind of silly and it's arguably gotten even sillier in the past few "cycles," as tyra likes to call it, and i have my own personal theories on how it's rigged, but i like to watch it, and that's what ultimately counts, so whatev.

anyways, i realized that this girl was one of the contestants from last cycle! i was summoning up the courage to ask her if she was from the show, but then luck was on her side and she got off at her bus stop before i built up the courage to accost her with likely very annoying inquiries.

but it was definitely her. sad to say, i was so excited about it that it propelled me for a good part of the day.
