ohhhh the anticipation!

AUGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! SO EXCITEDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!

The familiar "Woo Hoo!" that spouts from Homer Simpsons' mouth will be heard at Universal Studios Theme Parks next summer as FOX's hit series "The Simpsons" expands from the boob tube to a brand-new theme park attraction. The Simpsons The Ride is already being touted by Universal as the world's most highly anticipated new theme park ride.
Animated characters Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie Simpson - starts of TV's longest running series - will ride along with guests in a new attraction at Universal Studios Orlando and Universal Studios Hollywood in Spring 2008.
According to Universal, guests will be rocketed along with The Simpson family on a hysterical, almost unimaginable adventure. They'll experience a side of Springfield previously unexplored as they enjoy the new ride's interpretation of thrill rides, dark rides and "live" shows that make up a new fantasy amusement park dreamed up by the show's cantankerous Krusty the Clown.
"The ride is designed to duplicate the Simpsons home-viewing experience, only at high speed and with lots of screaming," said Matt Groening, The Simpsons creator and executive producer.
Groening and the show's executive producer James L. Brook are collaborating with Universal's creative team to create the first ride attraction to ever be based on a blockbuster TV series. The ride will feature show's classic humor and many of its recognizable characters all voiced by the original actors.

Bringing LeBron to the Bay

I'm not really that into basketball, or any sports for that matter. I have a few phrases that I obnoxiously insert into sports conversations just so I can feel involved with the conversation. Back in high school, I had random comments about Final Fantasy X that I like to think impressed boys: "wasn't the underwater soccer so cool?" Same goes for March Madness - "I love how unpredictable college basketball is - you can never really tell who's going to win." Don't judge me, I had a small life. Anyways, these have been the comments I've been carrying as of late: "the Lakers don't have a very deep bench." "Rondo needs to make more 3's." "Man, too bad Bynum's injured." Two guys at work were talking about last night's game, talking about who knows what, and then they somehow got into talk about LeBron. I know LeBron from the cute puppet commercials he does with Kobe, and his pink lemonade bubblicious gum. H...

Hi All! (all...four of you haha) I am always on the lookout for a good soba noodle recipe - one of my favorite lazy meals is to chop up some assorted vegetables (zucchini, carrots, onions, bell peppers, etc etc) and to stirfry it with soba noodles in some sort of teriyaki sauce, and it's good for like, three days! Anyways, I found this recipe on smittenkitchen: spicy soba noodles with shiitakes. http://smittenkitchen.com/2007/08/so-good-soba/ I was feeling extremely frugal and didn't want to spring the three bucks to buy chili paste and decided to make do with the lee kum kee garlic chili sauce that I had at home. photo credit: smitten kitchen *my noodles did NOT look like this haha basically, i overcooked the cabbage, didn't have sesame seeds, and for some reason it was very very soupy at the bottom, which I'm not sure is supposed to happen, but because the picture above feels distinctly arid, I think i messed up there too. I also think that not having the correct chi...

travels to the desert, part 5

our last stop before heading back to orange county was vegas. we're not really vegas people and don't really do the typical vegas things, so we spent the two days lounging and walking around. here are some highlights! 1. Wolfgang Puck Truffled Potato Chips With Maytag Blue Cheese (http://www.rvgoddess.com/blog/2010/october/Photos/102310-11.jpg) after a bad experience with a c-cake factory salad that tasted like secondhand smoke, i've been avoiding blue cheese ever since. but yelp said that this appetizer was the thing to order at wolf's, so we got it and it was totally scrumptious. google searches have found some potential recipes, so i'm going to try it out some time. as the pw says, here are the (potential) cast of characters for the creamy sauce: 1/2 cup Truffle Aioli 3 T buttermilk (plus more, if needed) 3 T heavy cream 1-2 oz blue cheese ( maytag, rouqefort, or gorgonzola) you'd think it'd be overwhelming, but it works and it's like nachos turned up...
