bike riding through bangkok!
through the magic of tripadvisor, i found a company that does bike tours through parts of thailand. after much hemming and hawing, i settled on a day long ride through the bangkok countryside, which turned out to be uber awesome. there was a group of ten riders and one local tour guide, who was really lovely. no one else was from the u.s. except this one guy from boston, and a strong takeway from the experience was that i am devastatingly domestic.
it was really really hot and humid, so we were very thankful for the overcast weather. at one point it even started to rain. the surroundings started out urban (we were biking with cars), which turned fairly countryside (banana and papaya plantations, village life), and then we made a big loop and returned to the office. it was an all day trip, starting at 9:00 am in bangkok proper and finishing at 4:00 pm. i would highly highly recommend it (grasshopper adventures, look it up. prices are really reasonable, awesome customer service); they have a lot of other trips throughout asia. one of these days i'd love to do their 4-day tour from bangkok to siem reap (cambodia), but judging from how sore i was the day after the ONE day tour, i think i might need to put that dream on the backburner for now.
we biked across a bridge! i'm the one in pink.
(this is where we were!)
