beginner art

since we're renting, i'm always pretty hesitant to do anything that could potentially damage the apartment in any way; under that category is making holes in the walls to hang up things. in places that i've lived previously, there have always already been holes, so i don't feel bad about sticking pins in and hanging calendars and large posters of myself (KIDDING! of course i just tape those posters directly to the wall) because i'm not making the situation any worse. but here, no holes to be seen! i was also terribly unsure of what to put on our walls. nothing ever struck us print wise at ikea, so i kinda ignored all the blank space and carried on.

i had seen this post a few months ago (http://ohhappyday.com/2011/06/potato-print-artwork-diy/) and mentally bookmarked it but never thought about trying it, until a few weeks ago when i just HAD to. basically, it's a polka dot print with about 20 different colors, printed with round stamps carved out of potatoes. jordan's prints are a LOT straighter than mine, but i'd like to think that the slight crookedness gives it a handmade charm. she also had more dots. i'm not going to repeat the steps because why reinvent the wheel, right? so go check it out on her blog!
