travels to the desert, part 1

the first stop of our desert tour was palm springs, where we attended the resolved conference.

inspired by jonathan edwards' commitment to live his life in recognition of the immense glory and holiness of God, the annual resolved conference seeks to encourage Christians towards like committed disposition through messages and worship music. it was wonderful. really gifted speakers, thousands of voices singing hymns together in praise, hoorah!

though all the messages i listened to were great, in particular i was really blessed by a message on doubt, because i've certainly had my share of doubts about the Christian faith. i'd post the link here, but it's the one message that's not yet available as an audio download and so i guess i'll just have to update later. here's the link to check out the other messages: http://www.resolved.org/media/. Download a couple on your ipod!

while in palm springs, we stayed at a hotel with a water slide, which i went down three times and had a great time. i thought i might look like a weird lady when i first grabbed the mat and stood in line with the mass of ten year olds also waiting their turn, but i went down anyways and had a fun time. and then i went again. and again, while friend waited patiently.

it also goes without saying that it was very hot in palm springs. at first when i heard about staying in palm springs i brushed it off like it was nothing because hello! i've been to asia people, land of the humid. i was still hot, and i'm a heat noob.

i'm too lazy to get the photo off my ipod, but i took a picture of palm trees in palm springs (get it, GET IT?) and so here's some clip art:
