visit to the farm

in honor of that hideous piece of "beef" patty they grew in a petri dish earlier this week, here are some pics from our visit last wknd to a cow farm in pescadero!

there were spotted pigs (they also sell pork):

this particular ranch had 4200 acres, so there was lots of room for cows to roam. it was really nice to see the wide open space and spend the two hours outside in the fresh air.

the neat thing about this ranch is that the cow folks share their land with chicken folks, which is ecologically great, see below (courtesy of Early Bird Ranch - http://earlybirdranch.com/about-early-bird-ranch/) with so much open space, the cows can fertilize the ground more evenly, avoiding that suffocating roll-up your windows smell you encounter on certain parts of the I-5.

there were horses, too (just horses, not to eat):

we bought a chuck roast and two chicken legs - we haven't eaten them yet but i'm expecting them to be fantastic and taste of sunshine and rainbows!
