desk
now that i am here to stay at my work desk (!), i've been thinking about how to decorate it.
while i would really enjoy putting up a funny calendar, a motivational poster, or a classy photo, i'm limited in that a) my desk is out in the open, not a cozy cubicle and b) important foot traffic comes by. anything adorning my desk would need to be discrete.
currently on my desk is a potted mini rose bush. my coworker and desk neighbor to the left is a real sweetheart and bought it. i love it and it is growing tall. i've talked about putting a photo of the folks in my department on my desk because after all, what's more work appropriate than a picture of work? but my neighbor pointed out that wouldn't i prefer a picture of people i don't see in the flesh all day at work? i see her point.
my neighbor to the right has a candy bowl that is currently filled with dark chocolate eggs. many people take detours just to come by, so she's very popular. i wish i was popular.
we've been trying to figure out what my "thing" is. left side neighbor is popular for her personality, right side neighbor has a candy bowl. i thought about making oranges my thing (we got a big box from costco), but when i offered them to people only one guy took it, and even then i saw it sitting abandoned on his desk for the entire day.
...back to square one.
