cool things
1. my first 5K - a fair amount of "30 before 30" lists have been floating around the internet, and bandwagonner that i am, i've started to compile my own. i can't decide if it should be made up entirely of things that i have not done, or things that i had previously planned to and have since accomplished - on one hand, what's the use of compiling a checklist of things that i've already done, but on the other hand, i don't necessarily want to squeeze water from a stone and come up with all these things for the sake of making up a list when i already have a perfectly good list, even if in large part completed. SHRUG.
all that to say that i've signed up for my first 5K, coming up at the end of next month! there are t-shirts and everything. my work neighbor and i were trying to come up with a whole relay team but so far it's just the two of us. i haven't really trained for this run, and am hoping that this doesn't result in me flat on my back, heaving. there was an option for a "fun run," which sounded fun and less intense, but i think it's meant for children.
2. skirt steak - i bought a beautiful piece of skirt steak for v-day:
3. romanesco - i bought this crazy broccoli at the farmer's market. from wikipedia, "it's a variant form of cauliflower." also, "the number of spirals on the head is a Fibonacci number," which is really cool. as suggested by the guy selling them, i chopped and roasted it in the oven.
j was weirded out by it, and i wisely saved my observation that it looked like bowser's back until we were done eating. basically tasted like cauliflower.
