phuket!
the ocean water always felt like bathwater, it was that warm!
we took an all-day boat tour of the phang nga province, which is above the phuket province. they took us out on a speedboat from phuket and we went around that middle island part.
very very neat and highly recommended! obviously, my photos don't do thailand's beauty justice.
we went snorkeling and fed the fish bananas. we'd never done snorkeling before and i gasped the first time i put my face underwater and saw all the fish.
hi!
hi.
we visited koh panyee, which is a muslim sea gypsy village and built entirely on stilts above the water.
we got a chance to try some light kayaking. each kayak was manned by a guide who took us through the caves, but at the end we got to try paddling around ourselves.
you can't really tell from this photo, but there's a man who lives in this cave, all by himself. he's there to collect bird's nest. isn't that crazy? dunno if you can see, but it looks like he's drying squid out on the line to eat later.
this was our guide, sompong. he was very proactive about noting photo ops and making sure that everybody got a chance to get their photos in. here he is demonstrating the pose.
again, such beautiful beaches.
